Each year, almost 44 million Americans experience a mood disorder. Two of the most common mood disorders are depression and bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness. Mood disorders are caused by chemical imbalances in the brain, but the good news is that there are numerous effective treatments for mood disorders.
