As I understand it, Metformin (and other oral type 2 medications) increases insulin sensitivity, whereas an injection of Lantus REPLACES insulin. Two different things.

Re "Older is Better", how do these oral treatments for Type 2 diabetes (metformin, Avandia, etc.) compare with Lantus (insulin glargine, good for 24 hours ie one shot each evening)? rogerac (at) ix.netcom.com
