Director of the Johns Hopkins Arthritis Center. The author and
co-author of scores of peer-reviewed medical studies, Dr. Bathon
is a leading expert on arthritis, and a nationally respected
rheumatologist. Her research is focused on the mechanisms of
inflammation and joint destruction. Dr. Bathon regularly reviews
manuscripts submitted to the Journal of the American Medical
Association, Arthritis and Rheumatism, The Journal of Clinical
Investigation, and The Journal of Immunology.

An Associate Professor of Medicine in the
Division of Cardiology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in
Baltimore, Dr. Blumenthal is the Director of The Johns Hopkins
Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease. His
principal clinical and research interests involve the optimal
management of ischemic heart disease, the effects of hormone
replacement therapy on coronary heart disease risk, noninvasive
detection of coronary atherosclerosis, and the development of new
strategies to optimize the management of cardiovascular disease
risk factors. Dr. Blumenthal is an official national spokesperson
for the American Heart Association (AHA). He has written numerous
articles and editorials dealing with many aspects of coronary
artery disease and atherosclerosis management.

Dr. Rabins has spent his career studying
psychiatric disorders in the elderly. Dr. Rabins is co-director
of the Division of Geriatric and Neuropsychiatry at the Johns
Hopkins School of Medicine, as well as a professor of psychiatry
with a joint appointment in the Department of Internal Medicine
and School of Hygiene and Public Health. His current research
includes the development of scales to measure impairment in
people with severe dementia and the study of visual
hallucinations in a variety of psychiatric and neurological
conditions. Along with Nancy L Mace, he is the co-author of
The 36-Hour Day: A Family Guide to Caring for Persons With
Alzheimer’s Disease (Warner Books, 2001).

Dr. Mostwin, a urological surgeon at Johns
Hopkins, maintains a busy medical practice focusing on prostate
cancer. He has performed more than 2,300 radical prostatectomies
over the years. Among his major research interests are urinary
continence issues and bladder function. Most of Dr.
Mostwin’s scientific publications have dealt with lower
urinary tract problems.
